Ice Breaker Pale Ale Awarded UK Winner at the World Beer Awards

Ice Breaker Pale Ale is celebrating its second award win this month as it’s been awarded Country Winner and gold in the Pale Beer category at the World Beer Awards 2023.

Each year the World Beer Awards selects the very best in all internationally recognised styles and last week announced its country winners with the final World’s Best winners being announced later this month.

The juicy unfiltered pale ale brewed by Greene King, also announced last week that it had received the highest star rating, 3-star, at the Great Taste Awards this year.

Crafted by Greene King’s brewing apprentices in 2019, Ice Breaker launched the new look and feel for the brand this month, tweaking the design of the anchor which is fast becoming the iconic symbol for the pale ale. The brand refresh will see a change to the design on cans, bottles, and packaging launching in stockists this month, as well as on point of sale and keg fonts in venues. The brewer has also launched Ice Breaker in a 500ml single bottles offering a chance for consumers to trade up on their ale choice in the larger bottle category.

Ice Breaker was not the only beer to secure a medal for Greene King at The World Beer Awards this year, as the brewers’ more recently launched Session IPA, Level Head, also secured a silver medal in the IPA category and Greene King’s dry-hopped Lager, Flint Eye, secured bronze.

Jack Palmer, Head Brewer at Greene King said: “It is incredible to have secured another impressive award for Ice Breaker and with the launch of the refreshed look this month the pale ale is really proving what a fantastic beer it is.”

“We are also really excited to have been awarded medals for both Level Head and Flint Eye in such a competitive competition and we’re thrilled that the industry can see the expertise and passion that we put into making our beers.”

Ice Breaker Pale Ale is currently available in over 1,500 venues, including Greene King pubs, lease and tenanted and independent venues, as well as major supermarkets including Tesco, ASDA, Sainsburys, Morrisons, Waitrose and Ocado.

Level Head and Flint Eye is available in a number of Greene King pubs, which can be found here: https://www.greeneking-pubs.co.uk/premium-pint-finder/, independent venues, and several major supermarket chains including Tesco, Waitrose and Sainsbury’s.
