£24million boost for pubs predicted thanks to England v Denmark Euros game

Ahead of England playing Denmark in the group stages of the Euros this week, the BBPA has estimated there will be up to 5 million additional pints consumed, worth up to an extra £24m in sales.

Emma McClarkin, Chief Executive of the British Beer and Pub Association:

“The Euros are already providing a huge uplift in extra trade for pubs as football fans know that there is no better place to watch live than down their local.  For this England v Denmark the latest BBPA figure show that between four to five million extra pints will be enjoyed worth up to a potential £24million for the sector and despite the Euros bring into focus the big differences in beer duty paid between the different competing nations with English and Scottish fans paying by far the most, I urge everyone to enjoy the match, cheer on England and enjoy a refreshing beer.”
