As Liverpool prepares to bid farewell to one of its adopted sons, Merseyside pubs and bars are making the most of Jürgen Klopp’s popularity – the so-called ‘Klopp factor’. The latest initiative being run in selected venues is a collector promotion in which fans can claim a distinctive, limited-edition ERDINGER Weissbier glass featuring an image of the inimitable Jürgen Klopp.
Jürgen Klopp was named as ambassador for the German wheat beer brewery ERDINGER Weissbräu in March 2020 and has since starred in a series of adverts for ERDINGER Weissbier filmed in Liverpool. In them, he was seen giving instructions to bar staff that they should ‘Never skim an ERDINGER’ as they served his beer, and to not forget ‘The Best Bit’. Now his face appears on the pint glass alongside a phrase taken from his first press conference – ‘from doubters to believers’.
Peter Gowans, ERDINGER UK Country Manager commented “Jürgen Klopp has been a great ambassador for football and the City of Liverpool as well as for ERDINGER Weissbräu, and we have had the pleasure of working alongside many people in the local area who we know are big fans of his. This limited edition glass is therefore only available in pubs and bars across Liverpool and the Merseyside area where ERDINGER Weissbier is sold on draught, to give them the chance to say thank you to their loyal customers with a piece of Jürgen memorabilia.”
The collector mechanic requires fans to collect six stickers on an ERDINGER collector card, with one given for every pint or 500ml bottle of ERDINGER Weissbier purchased before 31st May, whilst stocks last. To ensure responsible drinking, only one sticker will be given per person per day up to a maximum of four per week.
“As the football season reaches its climax, pubs and bars in the Liverpool area have just a few weeks left to benefit from the Klopp factor” added Peter Gowans. “We don’t expect these limited-edition ERDINGER Weissbier glasses to be available for long and initial feedback suggests they will become real collectors’ items.”
