Hofmeister Helles has been declared Best Lager at the Quality Drinks Awards 2018. The Quality Food and Drink Awards are a mark of excellence for the finest food and drink products on the UK market.

The winners were announced recently at the first-ever combined ceremony; for The Quality Food Awards, Quality Drink Awards, Good Choice Awards, Small Producer Awards and the Christmas Quality Food Awards, and celebrated at a single prestigious event at the Grosvenor House Hotel which saw Hofmeister compete against 5 other lagers shortlisted from a strong field of original entrants.

The beer judging panel was chaired by Certified Cicerone and award-winning beer and food writer, Melissa Cole. The panel was made up of other experts including brewers, bartenders and sommeliers who discussed and marked each lager based on industry standards of excellence and quality joined her.

Hofmeister Helles is the new face of the famous 1980s beer. Brewed, following the 1516 Reinheitsgebot Beer Purity Law, in the heart of Bavaria, Hofmeister Helles is made using only three ingredients: natural mineral water, locally grown barley and award-winning Hallertau hops.

It is slow-brewed for longer, and at a colder temperature, to produce a refreshing, authentic Bavarian beer to appeal to consumers looking for a premium product with provenance. Hofmeister Helles brings traditional Bavarian lager from the beer halls of Munich to the great British pub and discerning drinkers!

Quality Food Awards director, Helen Lyons, commented: “The judges were excited to see such an iconic brand back on the market. It is clean tasting, with a very appealing light colour, a balanced flavour with soft hoppy and malty notes; all in all, a very refreshing beer. It is wonderful to see high quality beer being made affordable.”

Richard Longhurst, co-founder of Hofmeister, said: “We are thrilled to now have won our second major award; the first was the highly acclaimed International Wine and Spirits Competition Beer Awards for Best Lager of 2017/18, and now we have national recognition from the Quality Drinks Awards. It reaffirms our decision to bring back Hofmeister and it is great to see that the quality of our product is being endorsed by leading experts.”

An independent brand, the beer is available in over 150 outlets across the UK.
