Ilkley Brewery Co. Ltd has appointed Josie Ludford as their new head of sales and I Like Press as their retained PR company.

In this new role, Josie will head the sales department with a remit to increasing coverage, routes to market and new ways of working. Josie joins with a vast knowledge of the industry from her previous roles as National On-Trade Manager for Brewdog and before that Josie was the Northern Sales Rep for Brewdog and Ossett Brewery. She is a certified cicerone, has worked developing international markets, and is highly regarded in the industry. I Like Press will lead on national campaign to coincide with the big plans for 2016.

Ilkley Brewery see this is an important stepping stone in their 2016 plans and the appointments are designed to emphasise the brewery’s new vision following the major share acquirement by Half Full Beer Co. The brewery had an incredible 2015 and are looking to build on growth maintained in the year, having taken the capacity of the brewery to 45,000 pints per week and having sold nearly 2 million pints. The brewery now exports to over 10 countries including USA, China, Sweden and across mainland Europe with every one of the bottled beers gaining a national award. The company also now boasts a fleet of 4 vans delivering cask, keg and bottled beer across the north.

The Ilkley Brewery Co. Ltd. was founded in January 2009 and commenced brewing in May 2009. The now famous Mary Jane, the brewery’s flagship session beer was first brewed in August 2009 and won its first National award in September of the same year.

In January 2011, Ilkley Brewery secured a debt and equity package which enabled a to move from its premises to a new 2,600 square foot brewery. A new 20 barrel brewing plant was installed allowing the brewery to initially produce 23,000 pints a week.

In 2012, production increased to over 32,000 pints a week and in 2015, with the addition of further equipment, the brewery can now produce 45,000 pints a week.

In January 2012, Ilkley Brewery was crowned one of Yorkshire’s most promising companies in the Government-backed Local Business Accelerators campaign, going onto win the national prize in August 2012.

2012 also saw the launch of the Origins range as part of a complete rebranding programme, showcasing the best in beer styles and brewing techniques from around the world. Medina and Siberia were the first collaboration brews with renowned beer writers, Melissa Cole and Pete Brown, respectively. Over 40different Origins beers have since followed to much critical acclaim.

In the past 2 years, over 80 unique beers have been brewed.

Awards for Ilkley Brewery beers have been won every year since inception, including 3 Gold Stars from the Guild of Fine Foods in 2014 for Siberia (one of only 153 products from 10,000 to do so).

Half Full Beer Co acquired the majority share in August 2015, and made immediate investments to improve standards and increase capacity. The company immediately became Living Wage accredited.
