HOPEFUL HOP NEW CASK ALE FROM BADGER

Hopeful Hop pump clipBadger is launching its new autumn seasonal cask ale to coincide with Cask Ale Week, which this year runs from 27 September to 6 October.  Called Hopeful Hop, the new beer is a single-hop light, golden beer, which is 4.6% abv and brewed solely with Celeia hops for a powerful citrus hop aroma and subtle bitter finish.

Head Brewer at Badger, Toby Heasman, explains: “Celeia is a hop we have experience with and felt it would make for a good single variety hop beer. We have been a little bit playful and added it at five different occasions in the brewing process to maximise the flavours and essential oils from the hop, thus giving a complexity to the beer from myriad flavours.”

As with all Badger ales, Hopeful Hop is made with Dorset spring water that has been naturally filtered for up to a century through the Cretaceous chalk downs and drawn up 120 ft from the Brewery’s own wells.

Hopeful Hop will be available in all Hall & Woodhouse houses and Badger is “hopeful” this new ale will prove very popular.

Cask Ale week runs from 27 September – 6 October. “The theme for this year is Introduce a Friend,” says Paul Nunny, executive director of Cask Marque, which supports Cask Ale Week. “A huge 47% of British adults have never tried cask ale,” says Paul, “including many who are regular pub-goers. Extraordinarily, nearly 30% of them can’t even give a reason why they’ve never tried it. Presumably no one has ever introduced them to the delights of a perfect pint.”

Background information:

Hall & Woodhouse has been brewing Badger ales in the heart of the Dorset countryside since 1777.  As one of the leading independent brewers in the UK, Hall & Woodhouse is well known for its range of award-winning ales brewed under the Badger brand and its network of public houses throughout the South of England.   The Brewery, which is now managed by the fifth generation of the Woodhouse family, is justifiably proud of the quality of its ales which are brewed with Dorset spring water filtered through the Cretaceous chalk downs and drawn up 120 feet from the Brewery’s own wells.
