Award-winning craft beer and food bar arrives in Nottingham

An award-winning craft beer and food concept has arrived in Nottingham. Purecraft Bar and Kitchen opened last month in St Peters Gate, where the team are hoping to attract beer and food lovers from across the city with an extensive range of cask and craft beers and a fresh approach to food.
It will be the second Purecraft Bar and Kitchen following the successful opening in
Birmingham’s Waterloo Street in 2014.  The Birmingham bar has since won the Publican Morning Advertiser’s Best Beer Bar Award 2015 and was named one of the best new drinking spots in the Shortlist Magazine Awards in 2014.
Pure Craft, the company behind the Birmingham and Nottingham bars, was founded by a trio of successful businessmen in 2014.  Andreas Antona, the chef restaurateur behind Simpsons in Edgbaston and The Cross in Kenilworth, Warwickshire. Martin Hilton is a former director at Mitchells and Butlers, one of the UK’s largest pub and restaurant groups and Paul Halsey is co-founder of Purity Brewing Co. the Warwickshire brewery behind multi award winning beers such as Pure Ubu, Mad Goose and Pure Gold.
They took the decision to set up in Nottingham based on the city’s thriving food and drink scene.
Customers at Purecraft in Nottingham will have a choice of between 16-18 draught ales, a list of almost 70 bottled beers – many exclusively imported by Purity – and the full range of the brewery’s permanent and seasonal ales.
The kitchen will be headed up by Andrew Smith. Andrew has worked in many top kitchens in his 13 years as a chef, including a year spent at Restaurant Sat Bains.  He is
passionate about matching beer with food and has created a menu of freshly prepared dishes which pair perfectly with beer, include beer as an ingredient and have plenty of
local influence.
As well as more traditional bar snacks like local pork pie and Saddle Black cheese sticks, dishes include: Pure Gold cured sea trout, Purecrafted Scotch Egg, Bavette Steak with Beer Ketchup, House Rubbed Rotisserie Chicken and Drunken Eton Mess. The team are also confident they will provide the best Sunday Roast in the city every Sunday
Richard Norton joins the team as general manager following three years spent as
restaurant manager at Ragdale Hall, the luxury hotel and spa. Richard has a wealth of
experience and is well qualified to ensure the smooth running of a busy food and drink operation.
The Purecraft team are passionate about beer and food and in matching the two together. They offer beer tasting sessions in their private tasting room (soon to be available for private hire) and tours of the cellar to share their knowledge and passion.
Andreas Antona comments, “Nottingham is a dynamic city with plenty going on in the food and drink scene. As a bar that’s as serious about food as we are about beer, we’re
confident that we’re bringing something different to the area. We have a fantastic team in place who really understand what we’re about. We’re really looking forward to sharing our passion for great food and beer with the food and drink lovers in the city.”
