Sophie put 25 years of beer-drinking experience to good use by becoming the first woman in the UK to be accredited as a Beer Sommelier. A journalist (working in newspapers, radio and PR) for more than 15 years, she now specialises in beer – including monthly columns for Great British Food magazine and the Morning Advertiser. As well as writing for her own website, A FemAle View on Beer, she is also a regular contributor to The Daily Telegraph and CAMRA’s BEER magazine – and in 2016 took over from Pete Brown as author of The Cask Report.

She also broadcasts and speaks about beer, with various appearances on BBC Radio 4 and on TV.

Her work as a beer sommelier has been recognised by the All Party Parliamentary Beer Group, who made her their Beer Sommelier of the Year 2013, and she also holds a British Guild of Beer Writers Silver Award for her writing in national publications.

Her other beer-related work includes hosting beer tastings, running training sessions/workshops, judging at national and international beer competitions and some freelance PR work.

As if all that wasn’t enough she is also one half of The Beertalkers – a podcast she co-hosts with fellow Guild member Sam Hill.
